The Reselling Journey.
I am a programmer, and certified in many pieces of software. I can build a computer or a website from the ground up. I suppose that means if you ever have a glitch on this site you can make fun of me. When I say I am these things, I mean that I am self employed, and have run my own business doing that career for many years,
On September 11, 2001, my life, and my family's life changed forever. We weren't in New York for the towers falling but it didn't stop our lives from being shattered from the fall out.
The people in our town were worried the gas prices were going to soar the next day. They formed long lines at gas pumps throughout the area.
My son was 11 years old, he wanted to go get a drink at the store, he didn't make the trip across the street. Someone impatient inline hit my son. He was thrown 102 feet, and suffered a TBI. He was hospitalized for a long time. He then needed many therapies to try to regain himself. To this day he has issues.
The Name:
When he was recovering, I could not visit my clients. I needed to help him, and still help pay the bills for this large family. We have 5 kids between us. I was lookig for something extra.
My husband is a videographer, and I was a coupon toting woman. I was one of those people you hear about. Well, you hear about it now, you didn't really hear about it back then.We made a video to teach people how to use super coupons. We called it ..yep, you guessed it.. Spending Cents.
I held on to it. I didn't want to really reveal my shopping secrets but the time was coming and my mother-in-law sent me a link to market the piece on Amazon.
As I scrolled through the information something caught my eye. It was something new that Amazon was offering. It said "Sell your books here". I picked up one from my shelf and listed it. It sold the next day. I knew I had found the answer.My mother-in-law also had a dandy idea for a name Book Nook and Cranny, and so it was. I sold on Amazon, ioffer, Overstock, Half, Ebay, Ebid, (well, you get it) until my son was good enough for me to return fully to the computer world (that was years).
Some years later I had another family member fall ill and once again I could not keep up with computers. I put that on the back burner, cared for her, and when she left us I returned to the love of reselling. This time taking on the name I had left behind...Spending Cents.
Why the cat on the logo?
Well, humans need help but so do animals. We have been running a small rescue for a few years now.
